Odyssey Thematic Research Projects for Secondary Students

Analyze. Expand. Enrich.

At CompassLearning, we think students who can form and express well-reasoned opinions and arguments grow up to be thoughtful, interesting adults. And it’s vital to give young learners important topics and themes so they can form opinions about things that really matter.

Odyssey’s Thematic Research Projects for grades 4–8 complement and enrich Odyssey’s science and social studies curricula, enabling students to create projects based on fascinating, open-ended questions such as, "Why do people like to live by water?" and "What caused the French Revolution?"

Using Bloom’s Taxonomy of thinking skills (along with the Internet), students research a project and use higher-order thinking skills to dissect an interesting problem or issue. And perhaps most challenging of all, students learn to evaluate their own progress and outcomes.

Thematic Research Projects:

  • Complement and enrich CompassLearning Odyssey Social Studies and Science curricula
  • Promote individual and group work
