As secondary students progress in their exploration of the world of mathematics, Odyssey develops their comfort with mathematical concepts and procedures, introducing them to new concepts while reinforcing old ones.

Odyssey Mathematics: Grades 6–8

Odyssey mathematics for grades 6–8 furthers students’ expertise in the fundamentals of geometry and algebra. The skills students learn in these activities build on the spiraled curriculum established in the K–5 lessons and prepare them for future success in algebra and higher math.

Students in these grades will further develop skills in:

  • Manipulating complex fractions
  • Solving multistep equations and inequalities
  • Completing real-world computation
  • Calculating using decimals
  • Working with distance, rate, and time
  • Solving pre-algebraic equations with and without variables

Odyssey Mathematics: Grades 9–12

CompassLearning offers programs that ensure that high school students are challenged and engaged in what they are learning. Odyssey High School courses meet the requirements for credit acquisition or can be used for intervention and remediation purposes. Odyssey High School Advanced courses prepare students for classes and concepts they’ll encounter at the college level.

Odyssey High School Math:

  • Features engaging short videos written and directed by master teachers
  • Focuses on foundational skills to support struggling learners
  • Emphasizes repetition and practice of key skills
  • Covers National Mathematics Advisory Panel’s Foundations for Success in the Algebra course
  • Includes a toolkit containing a calculator, conversion chart, and postulate and theorem chart for geometry
