Response to Intervention (RtI)

Helping all students succeed.

What is Response to Intervention?

Response to Intervention, or RtI, is a multitiered approach to providing services and intervention to struggling learners at increasing levels of intensity. CompassLearning Odyssey helps educators identify students who are struggling with academic concepts and delivers personalized, scaffolded instructional support for each student. The electronic diagnostic assessment in Odyssey targets the skills that each student lacks and then creates an individualized learning path for that student.

Odyssey’s online and offline activities provide intervention at the following levels of student proficiency:

  • Tier I (Benchmark): Students who, while generally making good progress, may be experiencing temporary or minor instructional difficulties
  • Tier II (Strategic): Students who are functioning below grade-level standards and who need additional systematic and explicit instructional support
  • Tier III (Intensive): Students who are seriously at risk of failure, have demonstrated chronically low performance on multiple measures of instructional proficiency, and also need systematic and explicit instructional support
