AUSTIN, TX (June 29, 2009) — CompassLearning, the leading

Odyssey software. With this update, Odyssey
High School introduces
eight new high school courses for a more robust K–12 solution.

- English IV
- Algebra II
- Trigonometry
- Chemistry
- Physics
- U.S. History I (to 1850)
- World History
Odyssey High School supports secondary mainstream, credit recovery, and
intervention students with challenging and engaging curricula. The increased
selection of secondary courses gives students a wide variety of
cross-curricular activities that can help strengthen their 21st Century Skills.
Odyssey’s rich multimedia content and online delivery ensure that students hone
technology literacy skills. The company’s challenging curriculum includes
individual and group learning, critical thinking, and writing, and encourages
students to collaborate, problem solve, synthesize ideas, and analyze
information.
Also new in this release is a reporting feature that enables teachers and
administrators to display, save, and print valuable information related to test
results, time on task, attendance, and enrollment. The progress monitoring and
immediate, automatic feedback of Odyssey’s reporting system keeps students
informed of their progress and performance on activities and assessments — a
key element of the “Life and Career Skills” requirements of 21st Century
Skills.
Attendees at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in Washington, DC
(June 28–July 1, 2009) will be among the first to see live demonstrations of
the new Odyssey courses and reporting features.
“The widespread emphasis on 21st Century Skills will help prepare students for
life and work,” says CompassLearning President Eric
Loeffel. “Every update and improvement we make to
CompassLearning Odyssey is designed to help students master the concepts and
skills they’ll need to be successful, both as students and as adults. But we
also realize that students have to be engaged in what they’re learning. We
strive to give Odyssey curricula not only the depth, breadth, and rigor that
21st Century Skills require, but also the interactivity, vibrancy, and
personalization that students like.”
